>What's a better day to start Summer Spree 2010 than on the summer's solstice? With the sun shining bright (and rather hot today), I had the great opportunity to spend this entire morning with the Orange group. Beginning in the kitchen, we learned how to create the most delicious quesadillas by grating cheese, cutting cilantro and spreading refried beans on a tasty tortilla. After baking in the oven for just a few minutes, we quickly devoured our quesadillas (quite yummy, we all agreed). We then moved on to the ceramic studio where we learned about sculptures and had opportunity to sculpt our very own; we sculpted everything from snakes to seals to self portraits. To end the day, we celebrated the solstice and painted sunrises and sunsets...all outside on an easel in the sun!
